It was a baby shower fit for a queen. The invitation read: “Hear Ye! Hear Ye! Her Majesty, the Royal Highness Queen Lacy Baird Kreutz will bear a princess into the kingdom.” And, of course, Lacy was on a throne and the hostesses wore crowns.
Some of those that threw the royal party were Maria Bush, Michelle Gonzalez, Laura Mudd, Kara Williams, Barbara Goot-Gamson, and Mehrnaz Gill. Lacy and Morten Kreutz gave birth to the beautiful Princess Stella, nearly 8 lbs. Lacy looks as thin as ever.
Hopefully this trend in fashion won’t catch on. Tricia Rauch is wearing the latest in wrist jewelry with a cast on her right wrist after a fall in Neiman Marcus and Terry Pasternak is sporting a blue arm brace after a slip at Houston Country Club. Tricia did not let her temporary “handicap” keep her from hosting a congratulatory luncheon for Gloria Bluestone for her recent law review and graduation from UH law school. She started with Akin Gump.
Before the accident, Tricia wanted a real vacation—not one that had relative obligations, if you know what I mean—just a getaway for herself. When she started making her plans to catch the Billy Crystal L.A. act that she missed while in New York, hubby, Mark Rauch could not resist joining her. They did all the best while there—enjoy the weather, window shop, and mingle with celebrities. Full of relaxation, they looked forward to the comedy act. Upon arrival at the theater they were told…Billy Crystal cancelled due to the flu…however you can get your money back or come back on Thursday.” Easy for those that live in L.A.! However, Mark and Tricia decided he was worth it…and made the flight back with an invitation to stay at Mark Levey’s (Tricia’s uncle) condo, relatively speaking.
Terry Pasternak had something else in mind when her husband, Morris Cweigenberg, went to visit his family in Melbourne, Australia. She and gal pals had their own R & R trip to Laguna Nigel. They shopped for fulfillment, ate like no one was on a diet, and laughed like there was no tomorrow. Terry is still fantasizing about another great spicy fusion meal at Fife.
What I wished I had Learned in Business School was the topic of the keynote speaker Scott McClelland at the undergraduate commencement exercise for BBA graduates of Mc Combs School of Business at University of Texas at Austin. Scott is HEB’s Houston division president. The inspiring talk answered what every graduate is wondering, “How am I going to use calculus and why do I need to know about Hannibal or where Prussia is?” The answers are online in his full speech: http://www.mccombs.utexas.edu/news/pressreleases/mcclelland_bbagraduation12_05.asp

Dog lovers will relate to Anne and George Boss. Wherever they go, their six-year-old rescue mutt, Benjy goes. They adopted him when they lived in Spain. They flew into Brussels just so they could take Benjy with them to see their daughter, Lisa Omlie, and their two grandchildren in London. They drove from Brussels under the channel to Paris and London. If they flew to London, Benjy would not have been allowed in the cabin. One of the highlights off their trip was a stay in Chipping Campden at the boutique country hotel called Cotswold House. Although it was too cold to enjoy the charming garden’s hot tub, the bathroom had a flat screen positioned perfectly for view from the bathtub. Benjy particularly loved Paris and Brussels because he was allowed in the restaurants and hotels. He has made at least eight international crossings…usually first class.
Teri and Lee Straus moved from Hunters Creek to Four Leaf Towers as a temporary move. Their Tanglewood patio home will be ready in August. Teri and Lee enjoy living among the trees with a carefree lock-up-and-run life…and Teri does not seem to miss her pool one bit.
It was hump day when Sandy Selzer-Bryant, Sharon Brier, Zahava Haenosh, Marcia Katz, Barbara Kaminsky, Sylvia Farb, Susan Farb Morris, and Barbara Winthrop Rose took off to visit Arza Funk at her ranch in La Grange. They enjoyed relaxing spring-time weather, took time to admire her wildflowers, cows and chickens, picnic, and just have some good old fun before antique shopping at Warrenton and Round Top. There was even a 100-year-old outhouse on the property…still in working order!
